An Architect-Renovated, Three-Storey Converted Warehouse Is For Sale In Collingwood!
On The Market
If you were to buy this converted Collingwood warehouse, here’s the lifestyle you can expect. Daily coffees and sandwiches from Burnside (the best in the business – located just 130 metres from your front door); dinners at your local Builders Arms Hotel (240 metres away); morning strolls through Fitzroy Gardens (550 metres away); window shopping on Gertrude Street; and seven minute tram rides into the city. How do we know this? Because we work on the same street!
Add to this an architect-renovated, converted warehouse and you have one very exciting home that’s on the market.
Originally built in the 1950s, the building was converted into residences in 2001.
Property developer John Wark and lawyer Katarina Palmgren bought the home 12 years ago after narrowly missing out on a neighbouring property. The pair undertook some renovations upon settling in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2018 that major works began.
‘We embarked on a total renovation, reconfiguring the interior layout and adding a third level and a rooftop terrace,’ says John.
‘We worked together with Robert Nichol & Sons architects to create what is to us the perfect inner-city home. Katarina did all the interior design with the aim of creating a warm, homely yet cool warehouse living space.’
Special attention has been paid to bringing light into the home through a void spanning all three levels, and a clever lighting scheme designed by Mint.
The ground floor alone contains two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a garage, followed by the open-plan communal spaces on the first level. The top floor then serves as its own private level complete with the main bedroom, en suite, and sitting area opening to a glorious rooftop terrace.
‘It is a one-of-a-kind property and a lot of love and careful consideration went into every detail when creating this unique inner-city home,’ says John.
John and Katarina initially had no intention of selling, but after catching the renovating bug, they’ve found another project they’re keen to tackle.
Converted warehouses with three bedrooms and parking don’t come around often in Melbourne’s inner-north, so be sure to take a look if you’re in the market!
